NOEMI Aerospace has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indian seaplane operator SkyHop Aviation covering the potential introduction of up to 15 NOEMI amphibious aircraft. SkyHop plans to introduce up to 10 aircraft by FY2030 through purchases, leases or a combination of both, with options for five additional aircraft. The agreement remains subject to operational and commercial evaluations, regulatory approvals and definitive agreements.
The companies will evaluate the technical, operational, commercial and regulatory requirements for incorporating the aircraft into SkyHop’s fleet. They will also explore a broader strategic partnership, including the potential future manufacturing and assembly of electric and hybrid NOEMI aircraft in India.
SkyHop is developing a dedicated Indian seaplane network, initially focused on connecting the Lakshadweep islands with each other and the mainland. The company is targeting a fleet of up to 40 aircraft by FY2030.
The agreement comes as India seeks to expand amphibious aviation through its UDAN regional connectivity program, which includes plans for approximately 150 new seaplane routes.
For NOEMI, the SkyHop agreement further expands its position in India and increases its announced global commercial pipeline to more than 90 aircraft across Europe, North America and Asia.
NOEMI is developing a nine-passenger amphibious aircraft capable of operating from water and conventional runways. The initial aircraft is being developed with fully electric propulsion, while the platform can also accommodate hybrid-electric or conventional propulsion. Entry into service is targeted for 2030.
